Charting inhaled and exhaled gases

For Deep or Moderate Sedation

Written by Miranda Moquist

Charting gases within deep or moderate sedation, such as Sevoflurane and other anesthetic gases can be covered in two ways:

1. If you select Deep or GA, those gases appear on the Drugs / Inhalation Agents page for manual entry. This is for charting what you've set the machine settings to.

2. If you have a compatible monitor that reports inspired / expired numbers for those, they will be recorded as part of vitals. These, in contrast to the above, records how much was actually inhaled/exhaled by the patient.

You can use one or both, depending on what you want on your chart.
